Volunteer Position Descriptions and Point Guidelines

League Approved Team Manager
(1 per team): 6 points
League Approved Assistant Coach
(2 Max for AA, AAA & Majors, 1 Max for CP, Rookie & A): 6 points

Being a manager or coach requires time, patience and basic knowledge of the game of baseball. You will be required to attend meetings, instructional sessions or seminars. You will communicate with the parents/guardians of your players to inform them of game schedules, rainouts, events and activities. As a manager or coach, you have more interaction with young people than anyone else in Little League. Therefore, it is important that you understand the goals and virtues of the Little League program to effectively communicate them to your players. To gain a better understanding of what those goals and virtues are, visit Little League’s website page or speak with a member of the NSLL Board.

Team Parent (1 per team): 6 points

The responsibilities of Team Parent include distributing information to parents, updating team members and their families regarding game schedules, practices, meetings, activities and league events. Be a liaison between parents and Volunteer coordinator for required volunteer points. Plan the end of the season party. Collect money for and purchasing gifts for managers/coaches. Coordinating distribution of team uniforms.  Coordinating and collecting paperwork for the league including medical release forms.

Scorekeeper (per game): 1 point

Scorekeepers oversee official scorekeeping for the game. This can be done using the Game Changer app or using an official scorebook (provided by the Snack Bar) and having scorebooks signed by each manager at the end of the game. Scorekeepers need to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the game to set up a score book and ensure the game starts on time.

Field Set Up (1-1.5 hours): 1 point

Arrive on Saturday morning and help our Field Manager ready the fields for the day’s games. This includes setting up the bases, putting out the tee or pitching machine, chalking the fields, and placing trash cans on the school side fields.

Field Day (2- 3 hours): 2 points

This is a great way to meet other parents involved in the league. Volunteers meet and groups are dispersed to the fields for various types of grooming and clean up. By the end of the day, you’ve made some new friends, the fields look great and are ready for opening day.

Fence Day (3-4 hours): 3 points

In January we have to put up the fences between fields 1 & 2. And then in July we have to take them down. We need the use of a trailer and hardworking hands.

Snack Bar (Each shift will be around 2-3 hours): 2 points

Fulfill your childhood dreams of playing shopkeeper. Volunteers will assist Snack Bar staff with various snack bar duties. Some snack bar jobs include opening and setting up, closing duties, customer service, taking and filling orders.

On a weekly basis, a volunteer will pick up snack bar towels and/or umpire shirts from the Snack Bar, launder, fold and return.
