Volunteer Policy

Volunteer Policy

North Sunrise Little League is a non-profit organization that relies on our amazing volunteers to make each season successful. Accordingly, per the league’s bylaws, each family is asked to fulfill six (6) volunteer points per player. If a family contains two or more players, ten (10) volunteer points are required. 

All points must be completed by the Closing Ceremony for players to receive their end of year trophy and to qualify for postseason play.

We value your feedback and have adjusted the volunteer points. Ways to earn volunteer points include but are not limited to:  

  • Team Manager/Head Coach – 6 points 

  • Team Parent – 6 points

  • Assistant Coach – 6 points

    • CP/Rookie/A divisions - 1 Assistant Coach (max)

    • AA/AAA/Major divisions - 2 Assistant Coaches (max)

  • Score Keeper – 1 point per game 

  • Field Set Up (Saturdays Only) – 1 point per shift

  • Field Day – 2 points per shift

  • Fence Day – 3 points per shift

  • Snack Bar – 2 points per shift

  • Mother’s Day Coordinator - 3 Points

  • Easter Day Coordinator - 6 points

  • Special Events will be happening throughout the season. More information to follow.

VOLUNTEER BUYOUT OPTION

As an alternative to volunteering, families have the option to buy out the season for $300 per player ($50 per point). Your buyout money will go towards covering the cost of paid snack bar workers. Buyouts will be collected by the volunteer coordinator. We are encouraging all families to volunteer instead of paying the buyout fee. Our league depends on our volunteers to help run as smoothly as possible! If you are interested in buying out of the volunteer program, you may do so by submitting your $300 per player via Venmo or check to the league.

Please note that volunteer points can be completed by anyone over the age of 13 from your family.  This can be grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.

NSLL has a rich history of success on the field and in the community! This is only achieved by the spectacular effort put forth by our board members, coaches, parents, and all volunteers! We need your help to continue this tradition.

Important Information

North Sunrise Little League (NSLL) has a formal program to encourage volunteerism within the league. The reason is simple, your help is necessary! NSLL is a non-profit organization that exists and operates by the cooperative efforts of many volunteers, from its Board of Directors to its team managers, coaches, umpires, team parents and a large body of other supporting volunteers. This network of volunteers requires continuous growth with a common purpose and goal: to provide a positive baseball learning experience for all NSLL players. 

The Volunteer Program allows NSLL to maintain reasonable registration fees by providing parents or other family members the opportunity to volunteer within their community. We know that this will be a fun and easy way to contribute to a quality baseball experience for all. Simply put, the more involved you are, the more fun both you and your child(ren) will have! 

The Volunteer Program is a responsibility in addition to the registration fee. During the scheduled baseball season, volunteers are required to fulfill 6 volunteer points per player playing in North Sunrise Little League. 

For those who think they simply do not have the time to volunteer, a $300 “buy out” is available. When registering online, the parent must agree to the volunteer policy or pay the “buy out” in order to complete registration. 

The Board of Directors has made a commitment to account for completed volunteer points. The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining an accounting of completed volunteer points and will work with the Treasurer directly to ensure volunteer points or “buyouts” are fulfilled. The Volunteer Coordinator will apprise managers and team parents of completed volunteer points from time volunteered, buyouts throughout the season. 

Review the attached list of volunteer opportunities. Log in to the SignUp app. Dates and shifts will be posted soon. Shifts are based on availability, first come first served.

After completing your required points, please advise your Team Parent of each date and points per day. Team Parents will work directly with our Volunteer Coordinator to ensure that all families have completed their points and/or buy out.  

No Shows - A reminder email will be sent to everyone that signs up through the SignUp app. If you do not show up for your scheduled shift a $50 fee will be automatically applied to your account. Please advise us before 48 hours if you are unable to complete a shift. If within 48 hours, please contact another family and ask for help.

Rainouts/Canceled Games - All shifts that are canceled due to a rainout or cancellation must be rescheduled for a later date.
